    4.6 to 5.4

Ok, This is something i should probably know but im not really sure. I have a 97 F-150 Regular cab flareside with the 4.6 V8. Really underpowered for a v8 truck. Well the other day a friend of the family totaled his 2005 F-150 with the 3v 5.4 motor. I was wanting to buy the motor from the insurance company and put it in my truck. I know it would probably be easier to buy a new truck but i like what i have just needs more power. WHat all is involved with the swap? I know id need the ECU out of an 04 or newer truck but would the transmission i have work? or not.
Any other modifications needed to make this work or is it a direct drop in?
    Thanks
    Ryan

i wousd say the easiest way would be to get the wiring and ECU out of the donor vehicle..

Is that all that would be needed? Are the transmissions the same? Im assuming there isnt much of a difference size wise btwn the motors. It would basically just drop right in.

you will need the exhaust manifolds, your gonna have to change the exhaust itself a little, and i am sure there is a couple little things that will come up, but nothing to serious...

Well @ least thats the good news. What does an install like that cost? To have everything done so that all i have to do is drive it.
