on further review i agree with you about the 3500 one. one thing i cant figure out is this:

..it was wrecked but needs put together car runs and drives great
how can it run and drive great if it needs to be put back together?

looks like front end isnt on. i have driven one 10-15 miles without a front end coming home from an alignment shop. just not legal.

It figures, I looked for a good three months for a cheap 94-95 GT and now that I decided to go in a totally different direction you post these up. DAMN IT! Oh well, I've already made up my mind on another car and I'm going tomorrow to finish the paper work on it. :)

I "think" I'm buying a completely loaded '03 SVT focus. I want a fun DD that I can take to the auto-x course on the weekend and I think this car fits the bill nicely. I'm going saturday to finish signing the paperwork as they have to do a few things to it before I buy it. I'll post up some pics when and if I get it. I drove it last night and its a fun little car.

Nice buy Paul! Focus' are extremely fun to drive (like a go-cart)...which you already know!

Can't wait to see some pics.

Do your homework on the clutch issues they are known for. The '02's seem to be the worst in terms of eating up clutches. There was TSB on them, so look to see if the TSB was performed on the '02 you are looking at before you buy it. To replace a clutch in an SVTF you must replace the PP, disc, and flywheel all at one time. The parts normally range in the $700-$800 range, but LUK makes a kit for a hair under $500 if you don't plan to really modify it. I've spent a good 10hrs researching these cars over the past two weeks, and even with the clutch problems I want one BADLY now!

SV1000s-You're right, they do handle like a go-cart, and this one would run circles around my current ZX3 which blew me away. The brakes are unbelievable and that is an understatement. I can't wait to try it out on the auto-x course and see just how late I can brake with it!!!

sorry for shooting your thread to hell Jared!

Back in the day (about 5 years ago) Colin and I used to manage a few Enterprise rental car accounts. Needless to say we found ourselves "driving" rental cars very often...Many a Focus was tested to it's limits and many had some seriously stretched parking brake cables! I believe Colin holds a Guinness world record for driving 20 minutes in town without once pressing the brake pedal. Fun stuff!
