i would say mileage is around 5000 and is in excellent condition (rebuilt for sunday cruising). not sure about the numbers, but knowing the guy, i would say it is legit

i'm supposed to make an offer... at first i was told the guy didn't know what he had and i thought i might get a decent deal, but ive come to find out he knows exactly what it is and doesn't need the money so he could careless if he sells it. i was just off on another wild goose chase i think!!!

One sold last night at Barret Jackson for 105,000. Original numbers matching unrestored.

It's not uncommon to see "nicely" restored Boss 302's sell for $60k+.
If it's all original and low miles, or if it is a super high-quality restoration, the price goes way up.

Prices vary a lot depending on condition ( of course ), color, and options ( shaker hood, louvers, rear axle, interior package ), as well as whether or not they have the hard to find factory pieces such as the rev-limiter / emissions equipment.

The Boss 302s are nice, and some of the best-looking and handling early Mustangs, but they don't make power unless you really spin them hard. They have big intake valves to breathe at high rpms, and because of that they suffer down low.

You really have to know your stuff to buy a Boss - just like buying a Shelby... If you don't know exactly what the car should have, you might get taken on the deal. If I ever looked into buying one, I'd bring a friend who knows all that stuff to help me look the car over.

    Good luck!

You might want to check the VIN # on the block, It's behind the rear of the intake stamped on the top of the block.
There could be a Boss owner with the original car looking for the original engine and that makes the engine expensive.

I would post the engine Vin# on the Boss register and see what happens.

If there's No VIN stamped on the block it's a Ford Service replacement engine..

If you sell the engine i have a 72 351CJ that would make a good replacement.
