Nice car! With the exception of the rust on the trunk lid and the rust on the fender, how are the quarterpanels on the car? Are they rusty at all? I see the car has a five lug / four wheel disc conversion and mass air, sub frames. What other "goodie" does the car have that was not on a 85 LX? Good thing I don't have a thing for 85-86 Mustangs lol.

You don't happen to know if this is the original engine or if maybe it was converted to fuel injection? If I'm not mistaken, 1986 was the first year for fuel injection, at least it was for the GT's. My buddy and I graduated college in 85 and 86 respectively and we both boght new GT's.. His had a carb and mine was fuel injected.. damn, I feel old.. lol

Was this a converted 4cyl car or is this a 86 LX 5.0 with the original engine? If the car was a converted 4cyl car, what year is the motor?
How many miles is on the car and when is the inspection due?

Its a 5.0 LX and the inspection is good until 6/08
the car itself has like 200K on it but the motor is out of an 89 and he said it has like 80K on it

89 had notched pistons instead of the 86 flat top pistons. This could be a fun little vehicle. A nice set of heads with that intake could be a fun little driver. You definitely have my interest. If you knew the parts I have for that car

86 was first year of fuel injection lx and gt. 85 & 86 mustangs also had true dual exhaust and the 8.8 rearend. Also, 86 mustangs have flat top pistons not cut like the later 87 mustangs got the E7TE heads which were essentially the heads off an F-150 if I understand it correctly. Also they had unique one year intake and heads and the heads are total chit. A little mustang Melvin history for you. That and I used to have one. If I'm wrong on any of this feel free to correct me.

1985 did have fuel injection. It was called CFI and was only on automatics.
1985 did not have TRUE dual exhaust. it however did have dual exhaust after the y-pipe
    1985 Did not have a 8.8" it was a 7.5.

i had a 1985 GT Auto CFI and it was PITA after converting over to true duals and using only 1 Oxygen sensor.
Do you like phill collins, u1arunit ?
