Any thoughts/reviews of the Beretta PX4 Storm? I'm thinking this might be my next purchase. The .45acp just came out for '08. None of that wussy 9mm for me!

Slightly off-topic: I really don't understand why you'd prefer .45 ACP over 9mm for a carbine like this. Yes, .45 ACP has more stopping power at close range. Are you a cop who will be using this on-duty? If not, what do expect to ever shoot with this carbine? You can't hunt with it and PA law prohibits you from carrying it concealed, so forget using it for self defense.
9mm is 1/3 of the price of .45 ACP. It's also more accurate past 20 yards or so. It seems like a much better choice for a pistol caliber carbine like this- yes, .45 ACP is cool, but for a high capacity carbine I want something that I can actually afford to put a lot of rounds through.
Okay, back on topic- the CX4 is pretty cool. It shoots well and is accurate and reliable. That said, for the price it goes for I'd buy an UZI carbine and call it a day....or a Kel-Tec SUB2000 for half the price which is every bit as accurate and reliable.

Off Topic: the plethora of threads like this make me wonder if this place should be called SteelCityGuns not SteelCityStangs ;)

he could probably give you advice
Interpretation of the 2nd ammendment aside, I have mixed feelings about gun control, and as such I haven't formed a full, consistent opinion yet.
On one hand, I feel that if you can control your gun, I have no problem with you carrying it.
On the other hand, the relative ease under which the wrong people (multiple conviction felony-level violent offenders) get guns bothers me a lot.
To me its a chicken and egg problem. If the wrong people dont get guns, you dont need to carry one in day to day life. But if you can carry one in day to day life, how do we prevent the wrong people from doing the same?
Given PA's stance on lethal force combined with where I live now I dont carry, but I dont have problems with people who do if they follow the law in acquiring and carrying them.
I agree that there should be tighter restrictions on who is purchasing a gun whether it be a handgun or shotgun....for instance 2002lxsport and I went gun shopping today. We both want to get a PX4....went to gander mountain and two kids probably 18-21 tops came in wreaking of pot. Low and behold one of them purchases his first semi auto handgun. That's BS!
On another note Philly...if guns are made illegal, the good guys won't have them but the bad guys always will...that's one of the reasons they are bad guys...they break the law.
Why is it illegal to carry this pistol in PA? It is no different than other other pistol. Its a semi-auto handgun. I like the .45 for its stopping power over the 9mm. Yes it is more expensive to shoot, but that's my choice.

LOL...I feel very stupid. You posted "PX4", I read "CX4"- my entire post was directed at the Beretta CX4 carbine, not the PX4 pistol. Disregard my previous comments.

It's not more expensive to shoot if/when you reload
I'm getting the .45 PX4 for numerous reasons....cost of ammo is of no significance as I reload. I'll have a good off the shelf box of ammo for if/when I carry....IF I change my mind, I'll be going with the .40 instead...that's a big IF!
