Thread: Opening Day at PRP

So, those of us who love to bracket race get no night to race?

I'm not trying to shoot anyone down. I'm not trying to downplay what you might have gone through. I'm a street car driver too. But I've also been on the other side, seeing how much work goes on just to open the gates and get any race day going. How you say something is as important as what you're saying when you have a problem.

There is just so much bullshit involved with all the other stuff going on. The Gamblers race ties up atleast an hour and thats on a good night. I told Frank many years ago about this, he just gave me a dumb look. Its a good idea and the turnout would be great. There are alot of people on this side of Pittsburgh that want to go to the track and wont because of the drive and dealing with all the other balogna.
"Cohoots" is too strong a word. Frank and I get along great, but that doesn't mean we always agree. There are going to be times that all you can do is agree to disagree, and we have. Personally I'd like to see 2 TnT days like you mentioned. I think it could work too, if they could work out employee coverage.

Hence what I posted. Have more than one night. Most of us can care less about slick cars and the Gamblers race. The track officals are generally rude which pisses you off even more to the point that if you try to talk to them, yolu will flip your lid and get tossed out. Its better to just keep your mouth shut.

I'll be there I hope! I have a free pass from the last day because we were rained out. I haven't had a chance to get use to my new 15" mt streets. They are alot different than the 315 17" Mt DR's, even though I did pretty well with those.

I average about 4 runs at every tnt. But one Night I did about 7, and yes at least 2 tnt's a weak would be cool.

Check out this thread on the PRP forum... Frank is sticking to the no gambler's race on TnT nights.

    http://pittsburghracewaypark.com/ind...=92&topic=51.0

For those that don't bracket race, or bracket often:

What do you guys think about having dial in lanes? No eliminations, no additional entry fee... just put a dial on the car and see what it's like to bracket race?

Oops, I should have clarified a little... only marking 2 lanes for dial ins, and those 2 I would think would be 9 & 10, on the cafeteria lanes. There are too many cars in the street lanes to run it out of those.

All you guys that TNT and don't want a gamblers race you should be posting on PRP's forum so that they see that it would be a good idea not to have one. I can care less and I posted for you TNT guys. Everyone always says that PRP doesn't care about TNT guys and you talk $hit on the track. Well it looks and sounds to me like they do care and they are trying to please you guys so you ought to back them up.

After reading all the negative posts and bad mouthing about the track if I owned it there wouldn't be a TNT because people will just find something else to whine about. PRP is taking a step forward for TNT guys and if you support them you will probably see more. Just my 2 cents.

I recommend keeping it civil while stating your points. That and I think the few other things people have complained about about will be gone after this season. 2009 will be amazing I think, 6 1/2 months and it all will begin to change.

Remember its a short season at PRP as track is closed mid september for construction.

Quote "Well during the year I'm hoping to get started on the tower side with moving the mountain down by the playground to accomodate a 700 x 700 paved pro parking area for the National Event. You know the pro's need asphalt, electric, and water and lights.( lots of earth moving) The property next door will be the new entrance( up by 22 ), you'll come in down by the playground.

That's also why we are closing at the end of Sept., to get started with work. The starting line goes backward about 250' all new bigger burnout boxes, the first 1/8 mile gets done in concrete with the rest of the track getting repaved through the shutdown. Concrete barrier walls, more lighting, speakers. The existing tower is gone with a new 3 story tower going up by the street staging lanes complete with corporate suites on top floor. More bleacher seating with a very large building going in on tower side behind the bleachers to accommodate another cafe on that side with souviners and a video game room. Staging lanes getting bigger and longer on BOTH sides.

I know there's more and I'm forgetting something but that's the gist of it. You won't recognize the place after 4-6 months."

    FYI...

Opening Weekend moved to April 5, 2008Opening Weekend for Pittsburgh Raceway Park has been delayed. Due to the ground conditions and the amount of precipitation that has occurred over the last few weeks, it is unsafe to open the track. We apologize for any inconvenience. We hope that you all will understand our decision to delay opening.

We are planning re-opening Pittsburgh Raceway Park on April 5, 2008. This day will be Test n Tune Day, an Auto Parts flea market, and Swap meet. There will be NO GAMBLERS RACE on Saturday. However, Sunday April 6, 2008, we will have a GAMBLER’S RACE, along with our Regular Test n Tune.

The Racer’s meeting will be held on Sunday April 6, 2008 at Carmen’s Café, instead of the Mar 30, 2008. The time will be 5 p.m. Please mark your calendars accordingly.

The I.H.R.A. chassis certifications are being performed on the March 29 only! If you had scheduled a chassis certification for Sunday March 30, 2008, please contact the track for re-scheduling. The gates on Saturday March 29, 2008 Chassis Certifications will be open at 9 a.m. This date is not affected by any of the “Track Opening” delays. We appreciate your patience and understanding for all of the above changes. We look forward to seeing you all at our April 5th opening.

    Thank you, Track Management.
