    Ls1 GTOs

    How do these things run? i found an all black one for sale for a decent price. But there are two down sides, one its an ls1 and two its an auto, but i do love the look of these and really need a car less modded for a day to day basis that still has some get up and go. I know how the bolt-ons react to the ls1 but do they affect the GTo as much as the camaros and T/as.. whats the weight comparison, i am searching on a couple sites now, but i know you termy owners love taking a 1.4 mile run with them.

    They run pretty good stock, I have an 06 ls2 auto, gets about 17 mpg city, ran 13.3 stock except for drop in k-n and diablo programer, plus it rides like a caddy.

    before you got the ls2 did you drive an ls1 gto? or race one? I heard the ls2 is light years beyond the ls1.. And i have ridden in an ls2 vette and dayum. that thing was fast

    Go over to www.ls1gto.com and take a look around. These cars take well to mods but the mods cost way more than the mustang stuff, that the only downfall, that and being a lot heavier.

    I think GTO's are pretty cool, our shop built both these rides. This car ran 12's with heads, cam, and a good tune. We also make the body kit, and hood for this car.

    Formula Drift/ Pikes peak car that took a season off, but will be back as a Bridgestone car next year. I'm currently putting a new subframe/ trailing arms in.

    Is this as a daily car, or a car you're going to modify to run some fast times?

    As a daily it would probably be okay. As a modifier, id try to find an ls2 version.

    and I would take what ls1gto says with a grain of salt. A few years ago they were a resource, but now its another story.

    As far as how it responds to bolt-ons, its the same as a T/A or camaro... its the same engine... The car is a little bit heavier...

    the difference b/w ls1 adn ls2 is not HUGE... the main advantage is the extra top end pull that the LS2's have, but its a very easy upgrade to make a ls1 as quick as an ls2.... imho, the biggest downside to an ls1 goat is visual... the ls2's have a dual exit exahust and a nice rear bumper cover... the ls1 is true duals, but they come out on the same side and look really unprofessional

    I can see how some might think that from a picture. However these cars look pretty sick with our kit. They don't look like a honda with a $1000 body kit. I forgot we make the fenders also, and everything is Carbon fiber.

    the new gto's are pretty sweet rides. i drove a 05 ls2 6 speed and it ran pretty good. they look good inside and out. as far as a daily driver, go for it. if you want a weekend warrior or a fast street car, ya better choose something else. they are heavy but with enough cash flow, you can make anything fast.

    P.S ls1 autos = poop

    big, heavy, fast, comfortable.
    dd = good
    hot rod = bad (unless you got $$$ + smoke and mirrors to remove 500 lbs)

    i have also driven that car. everything in this thread is pretty spot on with this car. i can imagine the auto bein worse. for a dd with little mods it would be a great car. like was said earlier, it will drive like a caddy compared to the 95 but too much money to make them go fast.
