    Slight Grinding noise

The HD truck is making a noise, which sounds like its coming from the left front that I thought i knew for sure what it was.... its a slight grinding upon every rotation of the wheel when the wheel gets to that point... I thought at first it might be a rotor or the bearings... Well, i thought i could rule out rotor, b/c i can't feel anything at all in the brake pedal... So today, i was going to tear it off and replace bearings, but when i got the truck up in the air and spun the wheel, there's no noise.... Both front wheels spin freely with only the normal little bit of noise from the brake pads contacting the rotor....

Any thoughts on what else i could look for?

I figured if it was the bearings, it would make that noise free-spinnign in the air as well?

Maybe it is a small pebble that got stuck between the brake pad and the rotor. I had that happen twice.

ok, but wouldnt this make noise even when the truck is up in the air??

That's what i'm most confused by... i haven't take the truck back out since i put it in the air, but it didnt make any noise when i rotated it by hand

Yea I would think it would. I don't know what it would be then.

You can't judge a wheel bearing problem when the truck is in the air. It needs to be fully loaded on the ground. It sounds like a brake problem however. Wheel bearing will make noise/vibration either all the time, or at a certain RPM. Not at one spot in wheel rotation.

Welp since the noise was so faint, i decided i was just going to run it until the noise got louder and i could pinpoint it better....
Went to Sharon, PA on Saturday to visit with my girls' family and about 10 miles from Sharon it sudddnely got really bad..

Tore it all apart yesterday, and what was left of the left front wheel bearing pretty much just fell out onto the ground...

It was a pain in the arse, but Ray and I eventually got the inner part of the bearing off the spindle and fixed her up... new rotors and bearings on both sides :)

Then, following our Police escort to Advance Auto Parts in Aliquippa, we fixed the wheel bearing in his truck as well!
