haha I just went through this last week. I ended up with a 16" Rock River mid length A4 with a stainless barrel. I bought a Spike's tactical stripped lower receiver. Assembled it all in less than 30 mins. Saved some money and learned a lot doing it.

You can always trust your ABCs when it comes to AR-15s... Armalite, Bushmaster, and Colt.
Rock River Arms is a bit newer to the industry, but has an absolutely stellar record. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an RRA AR. They've been adopted by several law enforcement agencies as well.

I'd buy a Stag M4 before all of the above choices, great gun for the money. Now if you want to spend some loot then look at a LMT or Noveske. I have quite a few AR's and owned a bunch of others including Colt's, RRA, Bushy, Oly, Armalite, DPMS to name a few. Stags are made by CMT(Continental machine and tool) which is a major manufacture in AR parts.

A good friend of mine builds alot of guns. He is down at my shop all the time as well. I'll get you some info from him when I see him next. My best advice would be not to buy a complete turn key unit.
