If you are able to rebuild it, then maybe it's worth it. Also as long as heads where still good. The main thing I would want off of that would be the heads. Is the block aluminum?

I nice big KB 2.8 would look good on there.

Well as long as block or heads are still rebuildable.

In the desription they said that the timing chain broke, they thought. I figure at least the pistons and valves are screwed up on the one bank. Since they also mentioned running it on the other four pistons i wonder how bad of shape the block is in.lol. As long as the block doesn't need to be bored more than 20 over, and head castings were not damaged then it could be rebuilt.

They also mentioned not wanting to ship it.

from my experience, if the pistons hit the valves in these or most any motors they will not run at all, Besides we have fixed some seriously crashed motors before..
