i did put the pos on first and the key was off
Mine does the same thing, just not everytime.
Rick,
You should always put the ground on b4 the hot. Well, atleast I do. And do you have any aftermarket fans or any kind of load on the battery drawing current you will have that spark. Is this on the green one or hers? How big a spark when you touch the terminal will depend on the load at the time of the connection. Give me a call when you get a min.

Rick,
Best way to troubleshoot this kinda issue........
Disconnect everything from the solenoid. Connect the battery, it shouldnt spark. Start connecting one thing at a time, and find the circuit with the draw / short.
Same deal inside, pull all the fuses, start plugging them in one at a time, the one you put back that casues the spark is the circuit to trace.
Unfortunately, if you can pun down something you changed, then you got to find the circuit causing the issue, then troubleshoot it from there.

ok so i took the starter wire form the selnoid off and put the terminals on and now there is no spark. i then went to put the starter wire back on and it tried to turn over, and the key wasnt even in the ignition.
Starter solenoid is going away, that was your load. Pick a new one up at any parts store. Real commong Ford issue.
