    I always wondered if you could transplant this motor into a SVO mustang. It would probably be lighter than the turbo-4 2.3. Pointless yes but, i wondered...

    Its sort of been done, although not to a SVO (blasphemy). Some of the Merkur guys have done it too. Now there is a pointless swap into a pointless car :D The one I saw came out pretty good.

    BTW - Just about anything is lighter than the 2.3T, they are heavy. Like an aluminum headed 5.0 is in the same leage, surely the yamaha 6 is lighter.

    I always wanted to transplant a 3.4 V8 SHO motor into a notch....add a little bit of boost (and a tune) and voila...she'll scream to about 8k rpms and sound awesome :D

    Looking good Joe. Are you going to replace the rear main seal while you're in there? If you're going to keep the car, you should consider getting a ceramic throw out bearing. The stock TOBs tend to crap the bed and tear up the fingers on the pressure plate. The ceramic TOB runs about $90, but it guarantees you won't be replacing the clutch ( due to pressure plate destruction ) in 20k miles or less. If you're interested in getting one let me know - I'll look thru my paperwork and try to find it - I think I bought it from SHONutPerformance.com
