    computer virus

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'Invitation' OR ONE CALLED 'POSTCARD,'
regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens an Olympic Torch OR A POSTCARD IMAGE, wh ic h 'burns ' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone
who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list.
This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

Just in case what? It's not real....these never are.

i dont understand why people would say stupid shit when someone is trying to help them out and warn them.
Because it's not helping them or anyone else out. Instead, it's spreading misinformation and fear. Sometime's it also results in a company's busy IT department being flooded with crapwork because all of the company's 1700 employees call to ask about the "Olympic Torch Computer Virus" going around that they learned about in a forwarded email.

If you want to stay abreast of the latest virus/malware concerns, sign up for US-CERT's mailing list. You won't miss anything.

we get warnings at work for the viruses that are proven threats all the time. like that one about national city. doesn't hurt to be careful either. ;)

If you want to be careful, sign up for US-CERTS mailing list. You'll be nicely updated about the current state of network/computer security including real malware risks.

Besides, 9/10 of the crap you get in your forwarded emails is not true. Believing mass forwarded emails isn't being careful...it's being something else. :)
