Is this normal?

Ive been at my current job for about 9 years, i actually like where im at, i get to use the garage pretty much all the time, i get to get pretty much anything i need, inspections, tires, parts and my boss is pretty good to me. BUT! weve had are diffrences in the past, and i would leave maybe for a week or so, but we always worked things out.... This time its a little different, i was working on a rack bushing job on a 2000 Chrysler LHS, now if you know whats involved then great, if you dont its about a 1 hour job if you have the parts. anyway i started on this car around 3:00 and finished it around 4:15 this after noon, there was a caddy with a northstar needing a alternator, which this requires dropping the sub frame to get to this damm thing! its a bitch of a job but not all that bad, i ordered the alt, and waited for its arrival, which the parts store we order off of is right down the street, it showed up around 4:30, at this time i asked the guy who is runnig the place,Boss left for 2ndvacation this month!!! if he wanted me to start on it or wait till tommorow since this job requires sometime, we have other cars that have smaller jobs like maybe a muffler or a brakejob that i could get in, he said just pull it in and start in the am, and just to clean up around the place untill 5:00 so i swept the place and put stuff where it needed to be,at five i clocked out and pulled in my mustang to put a throttle body and C&L tube on it it was about 5:15 when the shop phone was ringing off the hook, so i ran over to get it and pushed the button on the phone before i picked it up, you can here them say hello on the speaker but they cant hear you,,,, but the office guy already answered the phone so me and the head mechanic listned to what was said, because usally he will want to speak with us about the gameplan for the next day. To my surprise he was talking about what we needed to get done, then he said What about that caddy? did he get it done? of course not, he is apiece of SHIT!!!!! and the other guy who was listning was like WOW! then he also said that he was worthless as well!!!! now dont get me wrong, i was pissed off but man, i bust my balls for that guy and he wants to call me a piece of shit!!!! I think im am going to find another job, i hate to do this, but what kinda boss says that? after 9 years of employment? Im asking what your take on it is, and if anyone needs a Mechanic??? thanks!!!!

This probably shouldn't be in the wanted section ;) but yea, thats fvcked up for sure. I'd be gone if it were me.

sounds like a jerk off to me... but you will get over it and make up in the morning as usual big guy.. LOL

nah really, it's all in what you really want bill... if your getting tired of that place then maybe you should look around w/out letting them know your looking. but there really isnt too much left out there where you getting paid over 10bux/hr

there are other places for inspections,tires,etc.... dont make your life misrable just cause you need those things listed above. keep us updated

I've delt with my fair share of poor management in the past few years but if I ever heard my boss call me a piece of shit, I would not be working there for sure. If you're good at what you do, just go get another job where people respect you and your work.

I try to be good at what i do, and try to respect others but WOW!!!! And i dont act like a knowitall, But i feel this has crossed the line, even if i wasnt to hear what he said!!!!

the bad thing about this is i went to Vale Tech, which shut down right after i went there so my background lies with them,,, buy that i mean theres a associates degree, but no ase certifications so im screwed unless i can work for a shop that dont really care about that! Plus its been about 10 years since they shut there doors, and i tried to get copies of my alignment certification, and a copy of my other documents and its like a brick wall!!!!

I would be pissed if my boss said something like that about me but I would confront him on it first. I would also look around so that I knew what was out there. Good luck with whatever you decide Bill.

j/k seriously, this is messed up on two levels because you really shouldn't have heard it. Maybe you've been a "piece of shit" for nine years (no offense) ??? Is he a real serious person or does he like to joke around? Maybe he has a special name for all his employees?

Bottom line is... everybody you work with [including the boss] talks shit on everybody else. It's just a fact of life. 90% of people (maybe just my opinion?) are back-biting, two-faced, lying, cheating thieves. Sorry to disrespect anyone else on here if this is your thing.

Do you get your paycheck on time? Yes? and it seems like you have a fair amount of "fringe" benefits. I say let it blow over and forget about it. The other mechanic will probably screw up in the meantime and mention it to somebody anyway... so the comment won't go unnoticed.

Your right on that point, but no he really dont pick on people to much... He might of had a bad day, but that is stupid, I ran that mans place for awile untill he hired this other guy back in the office because he wrecked his quad and screwed himself up at his other job, Delt with his customers with respsct, handled his money with respect, locked the place down and made sure things went well when he was on vacation all the time, i think hes getting tired of it and may need a change,,, But maybe we all need one sometimes

some people... even bosses have major character flaws. you can't control anybody else's actions but your own.

If it was me (and I am an a-hole) I would use the phrase "piece of shit" to describe every car, job, shop rag, oil filter, brake pad for the next three weeks. loudly and proudly. :D
