I would confront him on it and get his take....If he acts like a total ass, then you know it's time to leave. He may say he was only joking around ,then everything is fine. Remember good people are hard too find and you make him money which inturn keeps him in buisness...If I overheard that about me and they where serious about it,I would find someone else that values my work.

If it was me (and I am an a-hole) I would use the phrase "piece of shit" to describe every car, job, shop rag, oil filter, brake pad for the next three weeks. loudly and proudly. :D

I never liked that dude anyway. He comes off with a lot of arrogance. His communication skills with customers are poor, really poor. The only reason I get tires there is because it's the best price around as far as I found.

If you werent supposed to hear it like someone else had said maybe he has been calling you a POS for 9 years without you knowing? I dont know its a tough call especially when you get comfortable somewhere, but at my old job I knew it was time to go when I got to comfortable. No chance to make more money, no chance to move up, so it was time to go.

If you content with working there, and you are content with the money you make hell with him let him think what he wants about you, doesnt mean he is right. Do your job get your paycheck and go home. Who cares what he thinks! I mean I think he more than likely has been treating you this way for years but now you heard him say something thats the only difference now.

Agree 100%, from what I've seen while down there he treats you guys pretty poorly, even while in front of customers. Keeping you guys down there till 6:00 or later, when the shop was supposed to quit takin' customers at 5:00. No way could I work for him regardless of what he pays ya'. The extra perks don't outweigh the shit he gives out.

So i went about the day doing wheel bearings and axles on a 97 mitzu eclipse, he called around 10 and asked if the caddy was done, no, i said, when i came in this morning that was what i was told to do. He was like,,, i thought you were comming in early to bust that out? " piece of shit" but he wants me there at 7, instead of 8 to get a car out that his dumb ass took on not Knowing how long it would be, i said since im a piece of shit, i dont come in early anymore, he was like dont get smart, i told you to come in early and get that car out, i was like you have some nerve after calling me that! he denied that he even said it, even after i told him that there were others standing there listning when he said it!! then he started saying how im a good guy and that he didnt want to make problems he just needed alot of work to get done while he was away, WTF?

I've been called alot worse than that before from the people I get work from, I'm a sub-contractor. Best part is when I fire back it's usually alot worse than what was said to me, that really pisses them off. Then I forget about it til the next time.
