anybody ever buy optima battery

i bought a optima red top battery about two years ago at autozone and it went dead yesterday took it back and they somehow lost my info in the system and wont exchange it ... anyone else everhave this happen ..it says right on the battery 3 year warranty and its stamped when i bought it .. if i knew anybody else that purchased one he said i could use there name and there warranty and it would also renew the warranty for another 3years .. anybody else have this kind of trouble from autozone before ..

I had that happen to me with a starter I bought once since then I only go to advanced auto. It was only a month later and I threw out the receipt. I am guessing the guy entered something in wrong but I don't know for sure.

they only hold info in the systems for 2 years then its deleted , I have a friend that manages an advanced that told me about it after I could'nt return my "lifetime" brake pads. optima batteries are made by interstate (junk)I have had 2 of 4 of them in the last three years shipped too us with dead non-chargeable cells, they are thrash.

ive never had any issues with autozone but advance auto sucks big time...

a good friend of mine is the manager at autozone in uniontown(he has been sent to another store for a while though)

i have a red top and a yellow top and i hate them both. they are not worth the extra money.

I have been nothing but happy with my optima red top. The one I have is 8 years old and still going. Has been through a couple alternator failures as well. Was going to replace my truck's battery with one this year.
Back to the original subject, you will most likely need your receipt, or you could try contacting optima directly. If they are made by interstate as was stated before, there should be a date code stamped right inot the battery case somewhere.

No direct experience, but based on what i've heard on other forums, the age seems to be the key. Somewhere over the last years they have made some changes in their manufacture, quality, or whtever that affects the life now. I have seen lots of guys that have run Optima stuff for years report similar, old ones last forever, the new ones are junk.

buy a new one and then return the bad one in like a two months you then sell the one of them just make sure you take off the date code sticker or if you dont want to do that I can get you a deka battery at my work at dealer cost just pm the size and ill get you a price
