    Possible Identity Theft?!

    * i will make as short as possible*

MY wife called the other day to get quotes on insurance. well the lady said she couldnt keep us at the same rate now due to my record. she said i had reports of accidents/violations on a chevy and a mitsubishi. Both of which i have never owned in my life. she asked if they spelled my name right and the lady said yes. now i got to thinking she had my SSN so there shouldnt be an issue.

how can i find out if that report is valid. no other agency had mentioned it. probably an error but i would like to find out for certain.

Obtain a copy of your credit report just to be sure.

I thought I heard something about a law being made to keep insurance companies from basing rates on credit scores.

Crediot is not the issue here. It is saying he has accidents on vehicles he never owned.

I was in the insurance business for 25 years. Just a thought, make sure they input your correct drivers license number and date of birth when they ordered your Motor Vehicle Report. I've seen it many times where one wrong number screwed things up. Also, related to this, make sure (verify the D/L # on the motor vehicle report) that Harrisburg didn't chnage your D/L # with a wrong digit which now reads/adds someone elses record to yours. I've seen this happen too.
