    This was broken a few weeks ago, the new record is 1049lbs. and the guy only weighs 295lbs. that did it.

    guy looks like a Tyrannosaures towards the end. I bet he can't touch his should with the opposite arm!

    Impressive bench though...I'd be happy to do half of that!

    Work = force X distance

    Shorter arms, barrel chested = potentially stronger bench.

    That's what happens when the thumbs aren't wrapped around the bar opposite in relation to the fingers.

    Saw it happen @ the gym I frequent with 135 lbs.

    I like that sort of lifting alot more, not a huge fan of the bench press suits. He seemed to pump that 715 right back up, he definitely had more in him. I like his psych up technique too, lol.

    As far as what I bench, I'm not a big guy by any means (5'10" and 185). I have no idea my max, cuz frankly I don't care...but my normal bench routine goes 205 x 10, 225 x 8, 245 x 6, and on a strong day, 225 x 10, 245 x 7-8, then 265 x 4-6 (6 if I have a spotter). I'm sure with a proper lifting routine I could be stronger, but I am self taught, and have learned along the way from others...been lifting for about 8 years now, but it has been through different sports including track and cross country, so my goals were very different during those, as bulk was not something that would have helped me at the time. I did some intramural running events in college, so it was the same deal. But since college I have been trying to put on size, it's slow going, but I think I'm getting there.

    Back in college I put up 265 when I weighed around 145....
    On good days I could get 6-8 @ 225.
    But that was a LONNNNNG time ago.
    I was 5'9" then and that's one dimension that hasn't changed since 1989.
    Since then, my body weight and my max bench have slowly crept toward one another..

    But I'm currently in the 1st phase of the P90X workout ( you might have seen the infomercial on TV ), and I'm liking my progress so far, down about 13 pounds from 202 to 189 or so, with much improved strength, flexibility, and endurance even in the first 20+ days. I had to take 3+ weeks off after I got smashed from behind in my SHO while my back & neck healed up, so that kinda sucked. It's geared more toward all around fitness than pure strength, which is better for me at this stage of the game ( turned uh...40...uh....today....ouch... ), and it comes with a nice diet guide that changes for each of the 3 phases of the workout ( days 0-30, 31-60, and 61-90 ) It is a very challenging and well-rounded workout. Hoping to be as close to "buff" as I can be before May gets here...
