I didn't realize he was 63...I was thinking more like late 50s.

I was also not the biggest fan, but nonetheless he built some great cars in his day, and his shop still turns out great cars... I appreciated his talent, just not his attitude.

Can't believe it, he looked pretty healthy during the show. He was a prick on there but im sure after dealing with employees and customers all those years it kinda burnt him out and took the fun out of the passion he had for cars.

    R.i.p.

Hate to add to the negative stories, but is the only one I got. The place we get our oil changed at work is West Side Lube in Connellsville. Behind the lube joint is a little junky garage. The lube joint owner and another flunky-looking dude (I never got his name) build some decent cars in that garage. The last time I was there he had a '39 Ford that he was putting an LS1 in.

A few years ago, they built a early 50's Chevy pick-up truck with (I think) a GM 454 crate motor. It was frame-off completely restored interior/exterior wood inlays in the bed... maxed out. Either way, I thought it was gorgeous. He told me that he called Boyd Coddington and asked him if he would make a custom set of wheels for the truck. Boyd asked him to send a few pictures of the truck. He waited a few weeks and he thought Boyd was coming up with ideas. He calls him and asks what's up. Boyd told him he wasn't making any wheels for that truck because it wasn't special or different enough for his signature wheels.

Needless to say, this guy had nothing nice to say about him. :o

A few bad seeds can ruin the thousands of great experiences you have when dealing with the public. I find myself suffering from "Burnt Out" syndrome all the time, having a job and a hobby in the same field is tough.
