    Special Tool?

Is there a special tool to safely and easily remove the center caps on the 5 star pony wheels? My stock aluminum wheels are kinda chewed up cause I just use a flat head screwdriver, but I need to find something for my chrome pony wheels.

What does everyone use, or what would a Ford Tech use? Any part number or information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yep - but be real careful - the finish on the chrome centers won't hold up as well as the regular centers. Maybe the rounded end of a bottle opener with a cloth around it - or something like that.

I cant remeber what vehicle this was for, was thinking my T-bird, but could be wrong.......

Anyway, what came with the car was a normal looking lug wrench (duh), but on the handle was a few inch long piece of metal with a little hook on the end. Basically, you put the tab under the cover, and the tire iron against the tire, and pulled OUT. This kept everything from touching the wheel, and all of the force was out, nothing against the wheel. Same type of caps as ponies.

I have a similar issue with my waffle stars, they are powder coated, and getting the covers off is a PITA. Those suckers have a wire spring behind them.

I just wish I could remember what car that set-up came with, might be imagining the whole thing ;)
