went and picked up an eaton today

so after seeing the eaton m90 thread i got inspired and went out and got one. its be sitting since 90 when the cougar it came off of was totaled, i believe it had 38k on it. the charger looks in good shape, turns well and is very clean. I took some pictures and ill get them later today. no certain time period on how long this will take making it fit my fox. I have some bracketry from my powerdyne i plan on just making a few new ones to accommodate the m90. i want to make the charger look good and no like it was just thrown in the hole.......so wish me luck!

heres a link to a video of the car from that thread....

Sweet! Make sure to take a lot of pics. There is a guy on stangnet that made his own setup using the M90 as well, I remember reading about it a year or so ago.

Are you going to make it as a draw through or blow through setup? It'd be very cool to do incorporate the cougarxr7/supercoupe intercooler too!

im going to try to to copy the setup with the powerdyne, MAF in front of the blower and the throttle body after. i noticed everyone else with this m90 setup moved the TB in front of the blower also........if mine doesnt work correctly, ill do the same.

i would love to intercool it, i thought about getting the fresh air off my hood for the intercooler (it has the cervini's ram air kit) something like the turbo coupe and svo. its going to be a large project!

Just a rough geuss, but I suspect they are putting the TB in front of the blower so it doesnt frag the blower or the TB ;) Figure you are maki ng a pass under boost, lift the throttle and boom, that moving air runs into the TB because its closed. I know several 2,3 Turbo guys that have broke the TB shafts on 60 & 65 mm TB's becasue of this. I have no idea how the M90 would deal with reversion, but it easts turbo pretty quick, I could only imagine what a positive dispacement blower would do. The solution is probably as simple as a blow off valve with the signal after the throttle body.

The TC and SVO intercooler set-up's where done this way to add an intercooler as low cost as possible (imagine that) and avoid a bypass valve with our lousy air meter set-up (back in that day, optioned wernt what they are today). Anyway, putting the intercooler up top is terrible for heat soak from the engine / manifolds. If I was to intercool a car, it surely would be front mount. The SC radiator / intercooler combo will fit into a fox pretty well, and the cooler is fair as far as effiency, plus the SC upgrades would all work.

If i was building a SC system, it would be blow through on the MAF too. You will need a good way to tune, but would likely need that with this swap anyway.

Just some thoughts for you. Cool project none the less.

Here's an example of a M90 superchared car. I met Alex Pikas at Capital Raceway near DC.

I think your better off getting a sheet metal intake made, then mounting it off to the side. Just adapt your factory lower to a baseplate for the blower. Use the Eaton "hat" and mount your T.B. and mass air into your intake tube. Blowers don't need quite the smooth transition that NA motors do. Look inside a Lightning, or a cobra intake and you will understand what i'm talking about. The air leaving the intercooler has to do a 180* turn to flow into the lower intake.

i would definitely give that a shot but the snout is pretty short and wouldnt reach the belt........im thinking i would also have to relocate the A/C pump or delete it also, is there a another eaton with an interchangeable longer snout?
