This project car is/was owned by Tim Stockwell. I vaguely remember him also owning/wringing out a 5.0L some time back as well. Back in the day these Turbo sixes were the 5.0L's main competition. And for good reason. They were impressive platforms that had major potential in them. Some unlocked that potential with exceptional e.t./mph packages with limited mods. This example below illustrates the "bang for the buck" approach.
Car description:
* 1987 Turbo Regal
* full weight, loaded with options
* internally stock engine
* stock transmission and *converter*
* full exhaust
* 2 years and over 130 passes
Mods and e.t./mph
At this point the car was completely stock including cat, converter with the exception of:
* underdrive crank pulley
* fuel enhancer
* homemade adjustable wastegate
* 13.845@96.48 at stock boost levels
* Removed air filter from canister, boost increased to 16 lbs. 13.280@103.13
* Added 104 octane booster and turned boost up to 18-19 lbs. 13.014@105.11
* Same as above best pass of the day 12.975@105.45
* Same as above 12.987@106.36 1.957 60 ft. on 215/65/15 radials.
