Two things need to happen. We need to drill for our own oil and we need to have the government step in and put a cap on the amount they are allowed to make. There is no shortage of oil, just a shortage of mining, especially in the US.

They get their slice of every phuckin pie that exists in the U.S.
The U.S. is what 7 trillion in debt?
China and Japan have over 1 trillion is surplus??
They gave everybody a $3000.00 tax break this year since they had such a big surplus. I guess they dont rob the piggybank like the corrupt U.S. politicians.

    Gas Prices

Well let me tell you this, i ran outta gas in the middle of Mon City tryin to make it to Sheetz, I was about a a mile away, i didnt have a can and wasnt going to call anybody, so i walked into Right Aid and bought two pints of rubbing alcohol for like .49cents a piece, dumped it in my mustang, it fired up, ran like shit but got me to sheetz! NOW, there was a little prob a week later when the pump shit it self in washington, i drifted into a parking lot and did a fuel pump in the parking lot! ALWAYS CARRY TOOLS!!! and i was lucky because auto zone was about a half mile down the street. Any way WE can produce a fuel? Like make something ourselves? There has to be something that someone can produce in a lab, and im not talkin E85, A synthetic fuel or something. Any thoughts on this?

its because of the tree huggers, they say we have enough oil in our own soil to last for 200 years, i think in 200years there will be a few other types of fuel to use, other than gasoline......

I agree with half of that, if we were to drill for more oil the increased supply would lower the price. The limiting what any company or person can make isn't going to solve the high price of gas.

I don't know what the long term answer is but for the people who are struggling with this, car pooling make a huge difference. When I was a carpenter we were pretty religous about this, mostly because of the cost of parking in the city. I saved quite a bit this way but now I don't have that option, I spend approximately $800 a month in fuel for general commuting. If I could cut that in half I could slap together another race car!!! Guess I'll be riding my harley to and from work quite often this year:o

I received an email today, you know the ones-read and pass on to 10 other people-proposing a boycott of gasoline purchases from MobilExxon, the nations largest fuel retailer. The thinking there is that if they are not selling gas, they will lower their price and the other retailers will be forced to follow suit. This will spawn a price war and continue until gas becomes "cheap again" at $1.50-$1.75/gal. This was supposedley concocted by a retired Coca-Cola executive and a Halliburton engineer with the intent of having the consumer drive the market.

the thing is nobody has mentioned is Exxon has its fingers in all the pies.....they have some sort of ties or affiliations with many other gas chains, not just Exxon.....they are like the puppet master.

    couple of things......

The government utilizes alot of the tax monies from gasoline purchases to help finance our military efforts in the Middle East. The cost of the war continues to increase thus gasoline prices/tax profits increase to help the finances of Uncle Sam. This will not change until the war in the middle east is over and done with. I am not saying I am for or against the war so no need to open that can of worms...lol

On another note..... we as an economy/nation have relied on gasoline for far too long. Typical human nature, we become accustom to everyday occurences/life. Putting gas in your car is one of those everyday items we are all used to! We have an unlimited supply of solar power.....battery/electric technology has been advanced enough for the past 15-20 years for us to utilize as an alternative source of energy/power for our vehicles. Hell look at the Tesla roadster....yeah it's $80k but it's an electric sports car (for sale to the public) that rips off sub 4.5 second 0-60 times. Forget about the price tag.....my point is that the technology is there and quite frankly if I can buy an electric car that looks decent and performs decent at a "decent" price $25-$30k...I'll be the first in line.....until the electric companies jack up their rates like the gas companies (it's a viscious cycle). I say solar power is the way to go, as the sun isn't going to tax us!!

Bottom line, the Government can't do without tax dollars from gasoline sales. Big business petroleum companies have sooooo much influence in government and economies (blame that on us the consumers).....nothing is going to change overnight. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until another Boston Tea Party takes place..........remember, there weren't any consumer taxes in the US 100 years ago. Woodrow Wilson implemented federal taxes to finance WWI and the taxes were supposed to cease when the war ended.............100 years later taxes have snowballed!

    To sum it all up:

    1. The war in the middle east needs to be wrapped up sooner rather than later
    2. Solar power is the way to go
    3. The government and oil companies are evil and corrupt sheisters
    4. Woodrow Wilson was actually the devil incarnate

    Just my 2cents :D
