is it me? i guess everything in life is going up in price except for my paycheck

i have bought about 4 or 5 of these in my life.
pricing one now for the current car i am putting together....
the have went up almost $100 in price from what they used to be.
i have last summers cj book and they had them at 259.95 now,
now the website has the one i need for 346.95.....

kicking myself b/c i could have gotten a nice used for for $50!

i know this sucks, it is all because of the internet people, the problem is that internet sites start up and goe away like crazy and these are the people that sell the mufflers for .01$ over cost, their plan is to sell a million of them , and they do sell alot, but what this does is it kill the "dealers" like me and summit racing who have to make a living form them so we charge 10$ over cost for a muffler, so flowmaster and many other companys are seeing this and raising the price of their stuff to try and make it a level playing field as far as price goes, atleast that is what they tell me..

I was looking at a set of 2.5 inch Flowmaster tailpipes for my wife's 66 GT in December and they were $105 for the pair. I get the new catalog this year and ...... POOF!!!!!!......they're up to $140+!!!!!! Does that suck or what?!?! Oh well - still cheaper than getting them bent up somewhere local...

The increase is about in line with what steel prices have done over the past couple of years. Thank the Dam Zipperheads (Chineese) for buying up the majority of steel on the market along with numerous other commodities. :flipoff:

Hey don't hate on the Chinese for seeing the future and taking advantage of it.

It's just too damn bad that the USA was the whores of the 70's that ruined it for themselves. Reminds me of the smack-offs in the airlines industry.

Everyone I deal with in my industry is raising prices due to the cost of fuel. They see that others are doing it and jump on the band wagon. Seeing a trend anyone..?

    But I digress..

I was looking for a new cat back tonight. I saw the increase in price from my summit catalog. I really like the sound of flowmaster, but I think I am going with a pypes cat back. $100 cheaper and it is stainless steel, (not 304, but it will still take a very long time to rust out)

Just installed BBK shorties, and a pypes off road X-pipe, and my current cat back didn't line up right. I had a custom fabbed one with flowmaster muffs, that was welded together and didn't fit with the new X -pipe.( the x-pipe seemed to be too long) I figure if I buy a new cat back, I can cut, and modify as I need. The exhaust was on the car when I bought it and is starting to rust, so in with the new.
