When a political figure gets involved in something like this he/she is no longer acting on the behalf of the best interest of the voters. The people ( probably the mob ) involved can use their "information" on him to bribe/extort money and information and get preferential treatment for their own personal gain. This guy deserves to lose his job, his wife, and his livelihood. He has obviously been concerned with anything but representing the people who elected him. This country is a mess - they still like Bill Clinton even after he humiliated the entire country with his constant ass-grabbing and unfaithfulness. Political leaders need to be upstanding citizens who anyone would be proud to call their friend, brother, uncle - whatever. Too bad that's not the way it really is anymore...
