about the new tax rebate

apparently the IRS is spending 42 billion dollars to send out letters to the american public notifying them the stipulations of getting a rebate, and also saying the checks are almost ready to send out.

has anyone recieved a letter yet?

yea i got one too... says the same thing anywhere from 300-1200 plus 300 per kid

Got one too. Makes sense, yea the gas prices are only $5.00 gallon, we'll make em happy buy giving a whopping $600 dollars, this will spark the economy

I heard that if you're not 25 its only 300. 25 and older gets the full 600. Any truth to that?

My parents talked to an accountant today; apparently I won't get my 300/600 whatever the hell its supposed to be because I'm a full-time student.

I was told you also get the check according to the last numbers of your social. Mine ends with 93, so I will get my check supposedly in week 10 of distribution. I'm estimating $900, (300 for me and 300 for my 2 kids)... not counting on it till its in my bank account though lol

If you are married, it goes by the person's social who is head of household.

The checks start coming out in May.

are you serious? Students need it the most! Guess i wont be getting anything either.

If you havent filed your tax return yet AND your parents cant claim you as a dependent child, then you can use either the hope credit or the lifelong learning credit to get a tax credit on your qualified eduction expenses that you paid.

I forget the IRS form number, but one year I went from owing almost 2 grand to breaking even because of that tax credit.
