other than figuring out the area of a circle (PIxR^2) what else can I use it for?

    Do you REALLY wanna know?

Youd be amazed just where Pi pops up. Virtually any integration or work that translates easier into a coordinate system like polar or spherical will have a Pi pop up.

For example, the integral upon which a lot of continuous probability theory and its corresponding distributions are based:

has a solution of the square root of pi.

It also shows up in trigonometry everywhere since much of trig is based on the unit circle.

    who would thought? :)

philly is right, pi is quite important in the mathematical world... not only in very difficult calculations for physics, etc, but simple calculations such as finding the area of cones, spheres and other objects..

I no longer deal with pi very much, for MOST probability distributions do not use pi in its numerical form, rather as a independent/dependent variable.

i only have pi and e to about 10 digits. I've never needed more accuracy than that.

Well that integral was the only one I could think of off the top of my head where it solves with less pain taking advantage of polar coordinates and having a pi pop up.

i thought you were the only loser :p who cared about this , but i was at the church fish fry tonite and a girl had on a shirt with an bunny( kind of like energizer bunny) and something like Pi = 3.14159 and it keeps going and going and going
