i have a customer with real crazy car, that wants some crazy exhaust work done, but anyway, we are soing dual exhaust cut outs, 1 before the cats and 1 after the cats, The button to open them is a push/pull button that you must either push or pull for 4.5 seconds, he wants to be able to just push the button once to open them all the way, i think to make this happen i will need a timed reay switch or something like that. does anyone have any idea of what this is called and where to find one, much thanks..

You are correct, there is such a thing as a timed relay. Some will even have and adjustable knob on them so you can dial in the time you need. There are also latching relays that may be able to be made work depending on how the solenoid on the cut-out is set up.

were do yo ufind things like this???? radioshack?? everyone i call has no idea.. so i kinda need to know what i am looking for before i try to get it...

well here in morgantown, wv we have a place called state electronics that sells stuff like the timed relay. try looking for a electronic supply place.

bought those at radio shack before. been a long time for a project in college. they may still carry them
