    smog pump elimination

When a person eliminates their smog pump, what do you use to cap off the inlet on the X-pipe? I actually plan on keeping the pump, I just want to eliminate the tube that goies into the x-pipe, as it doesn't fit my new pypes x, and the hoses get in the way of my headers So i'm going to leave the pump on connected to the heads, but not the x-pipe.

i cut the tube off, smooth out the trunk on the pipe and weld a small square plate over the hole. i have had cars come in with it cut and the end pinched off!!! i have also seen cars with a short piece of rubber with a bolt in the end!

they make metal caps for metal tubing. just some flux, silver solder and a torch and you you can sweat in on like doing copper water pipes

The solder can take the temp of the x pipe without melting?

that's why i say silver solder. not the typical lead/tin water pipe stuff. unless you're turning your pipes red with a huge turbo you'll be fine, it has a much higher melting point but also costs a lot more. if the pipes aren't hot enough to cook the rubber hose... i have a roll here but i think i'm out of acetylene.

I have map gass torch at home, and I have access to a oxy acetelene torch at work. can I buy silver solder at lowes or something? My motor is stock except for the exhaust so It won't get any hotter then the cats, I imagine.
