    Thanks again guys!
That picture was at my friends house, and its his GTO. I was out driving her around after I got my plates and decided that I was comfortable enough with the car to start to give it some throttle, I almost shat my pants the first time I floored her in 2nd. The torque on these cars down low is just insane.
I was being kinda vague about it because I didn't know the forum rules about posting about racing or posting racing videos... but we got a couple easy runs in, and you can guess the rest.
If you can't guess, here is a hint or two

The car has new tires on it now, and yeah they were bald as hell as you can see.

lol yeah I just got an email and responded to that. There are some dumb people out there, but bench racers will always have a warm and laughable place in my heart.

Thank you! I'll be seeing you when the weather breaks for a FLSFC installation off of Nate's recommendation

Do you do any transmission work? I have a couple of things that might need a little sorting out. I can list them if you'd like, but I won't be able to do anything about it until may, so its no rush.

I'm positive that the vids were recorded on a closed test track and NOT a public highway. :D

I guess I need to listen to it again. Maybe a little clutch slippage

Rpm's stayed flat/skipped....if he was spinning they would've jumped up.

    Could be rich/lean/detonation/belt slip...etc.

    Exactly!!

It was a bumpier section of test track, and the belt gets a bit of slip. I was also worried that if I just mashed it the car would want to get away from me, and thats no way to learn the power of a new car. So its a combination of bald tires/bumpy road/belt slip/easing into throttle rather than just punching it.

The car is supposed to have a safe dyno tune on it from amazon racing, so I have no reason to doubt that.

I have a few things to look into with the transmission though, so I could have some clutch issues down the line, so I wouldn't rule that out either. Hopefully whenever we get together you guys will be able to help me sort out my paranoia from reality though. As much as I thought I knew about this stuff, I'm still a noob when its all said and done :o

Did you get a graph? Heck...even if you did...i still would not go WOT until I personally put the car on a dyno and checked the a/f ratio pre cats.

For $75 for a couple pulls with a/f monitoring, it's worth it.

Did you buy that car off SVTP?

Bought it from Turkish on SVTPerformance. The car has been running the tune since late summer I believe. David gave me the dyno graphs and all of the information and records with the car. Amazon wouldn't tune a timebomb, but I'll get it on a dyno when I get a new bet on it to make sure its still safe. The car pulls smooth and hard. If you're going off of the strange noises on the second run, also it might not seem like it, but the GTO was WOT in both of those videos, so even as I eased into the throttle I was even or better with him, despite belt slip or whatever.

edit: have you ever heard of amazon? I'm not trying to talk back to you, I'm just not sure if you're familiar with them at all? You've got me kinda freaked out.

    shrug:
Sure have....I've heard only good things about them except that their dyno reads a little on the optimisic side.

I've just read about too many horror stories about people trusting mail order tunes (i don't think amazon does them) and getting poor results.

I guess I just like to be as close to 100% sure as possible as to how the car is running...even if I bought one with a a/f graph.

To me, the risk isn't worth the reward. Not trying to give you a hard time...just a heads up.

John is giving good advice. Rick's tune should be fine if he did it on his load bearing(Mustang type) dyno. If it is a mail order tune it should be okay but like he said it's always good to check it.

I personally always use and reccomend a wide band O2 sensor to be installed in plain view and once installed compare your data with another accurate wide band meter like one at a dyno that has been calibrated and verified to be correct. I did this when I dyno'd last year. We had three wide bands installed during the pulls and they were all within .1 of each other throughout.

This is real good advice, like he said we aren't trying to scare ya. :)
