converter question

i have a ptc 4000 stall converter for my c4. i lost all the forward gears but reverse is fine. im not sure if it is the converter itself or the tranny or both. i noticed when i shake the converter, it rattles. so this brings me to the question...should it be doing this?

I lost a converter in a C6 before. All gears gone. It puked about 3 qts of fluild out of the tail.

Torque convertors will have a "rattle" if you shake them.

Since you lost all forward gears but reverse works, you have a tranny problem.

You should also get a new convertor now as it is filled with garbage. Or if it's rebuildable send it out to get cleaned and re-stalled if you need it to be.
