outlook will do weird things once it reaches a certain size....you should always permanetly delete your messages and archive the keepers to your hard drive.

I want to say at 2gig (but that sounds REALLY big) you'll start seeing problems...atleast that's with the system at my work. It happened to a coworker of mine with regular outlook.

regardless...since they're deleted messages...why not delete them to eliminate the possibilty.

yep, delete them, or archive them, if you didnt know, when you delete an item in outlook it doesnt delete, it just goes to the deleted folder.

just right click on the folder and empty it

I dunno how old your outlook is, but outlook does fine with size...... maybe the anceint outlook's had trouble, but any of the new ones are great!

If you are using an email client such as hotmail, gmail, or yahoo its a simple explanation. Outlook keeps track of what messages it has downloaded and what ones it has not by doing a database match of what it has and what your email server has (think of a "VLOOKUP" function in EXCEL if you're familair with EXCEL). If you had them in your "deleted items" then it recognizes that the email has been recieved at one point or another. Once it is deleted form your deleted items, the databases no longer match, and its going to download all the old messages that you had previously "deleted" because it finds the message on the server and does not find a match on the client (OUTLOOK database).

What you need to do is go delete them off of your email client's server first, and then out of outlook, and they won't show up again.
