    Decision Made (I hope)

Ok, so I am doing some more homework here and I have narrowed down to 2 options (hopefully).... Let me know which option is the best way to go (considering that the total price is only a few hundred $$$ difference.....

    Option #1 Buy everything individually:

FRPP Cobra Polished Upper/Lower Intake $429.95

    FRPP B303 Cam$169.95

    165cc AFR Street Heads, Pedestal, 60cc $1,300.00

    FRPP 30# Fuel Injectors$289.95

Comp Cam aluminum adjustable 1.7:1 roller rockers$500.00

    ARP head bolts $39.95

    Prof Products 70mm Throttle Body - Polished$144.95

    76mm Mass Air Meter for #30lb Injectors$179.95

    Fel-Pro head gaskets$25.00

    Total = $3,079.70

Option #2 Buy an 'engine kit' and add some parts:

    http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...20%201&comp=LRS

87-93 ENGINE KIT – Polished (see link above) $2,169.95

FRPP E303 Cam included in kit

    GT40X Heads included in kit

    FRPP 30# Fuel Injectors $289.95

    Roller Rockers included in kit

    Head Bolts included in kit

Prof Products 70mm Throttle Body - Polished $144.95

76mm Mass Air Meter for #30lb Injectors $179.95

    Head Gaskets included in kit

    Total = $2,784.80

Now if I went with Option #2, the only thing I would change would be to sell the GT40X heads and get AFR 165/185cc heads (if they will work with everything) Sell the E303 cam and go with a B303 cam, or something that will get me a more aggressive idle.

Let me know if I should change anything. Also, will this just 'bolt-on' to my stock motor? What else do I need or prepare to do?

You can find 30lb. injectors all day long for sale over on the corral classifieds.
You got the rockers down for $500, you can get rockers for between $200-$300 brand new. You can also find that proffesional products 70mm t.b. on ebay for around $105 shipped brand new. Id also go w/ a pro-m maf, preferably a 80maf. Your also gonna need a timing chain & pushrods & maybe even lifters. Try the FMS graphite head gaskets, they are very nice but a little more expensive than the ones you have listed. Maybe think about going w/ a different cam too. Stud mount rockers would be better, but if your keeping it under 6000-6500 you'll be fine.

I figured #24 would be sufficient, just going 1 step higher.... no???

My tach has never been past 5500rpm. I am sure I can find cheaper prices, these prices were just initial quotes. Thanks for your tips

definately get new lifters while your in there for the $... If you are going the afr route, i would suggest the ROL headgaskets, they are cheap and pretty nice quality for about $50. you will need longer hardened pushrods to run afr's. I stuck w/ pedestals since i knew i was keeping the rpms relatively low and already had cobra rockers for pedestal heads. I would suggest getting the lower ported on the cobra intake to help it from running out of breath up top

New lifters are good advice if it's a high mile motor. I don't recommend pedestal rockers if you don't already have them. Stud mount rockers are far stronger and more importantly far easier to adjust. Talk to killercarney about pedestal rockers.

If you're patient, you can buy all of these parts used at a big discount. Watch the classified ads here & on the Corral and even Ebay.

your stock injectors will probably be enough. I would go 24s if you need a little extra insurance. I would stay away from the alphabet cams as technology has since moved on. Don't get me wrong they are good pieces for the money but there are better cams out there. And I agree with the others, new lifters and push rods will be in order. And the stud mount rockers for sure for ease of adjustment.

I can be patient and have nothing but time, so I will surely watch for deals.

Not sure if my block needs a 'ream'.... I was just going to replace some seals and rings and such.

i'd do a compression test and see what kinda #'s you get before doing any internal work... could very easily get away w/ not needing a rebuild unless its got high miles then you might want to for peace of mind

Sounds like a good idea. Any idea where I can get a compression test done (near Pittsburgh)? The car has 143,xxx miles so it probably would hurt to change the seals/rings

i'll lend you a guage if you want, or drive up to gibsonia..... just remove your plugs and screw it in and crank the motor over(coil &injectors unplugged) mark down your #'s, and if they are w/in 10% of each other you should be ok... all depends on how much $ you have to play with if you want to do a rebuild

or you can just roll into advanced and buy one for like 30-40 bucks. And yes pull the plugs roll the motor over roughly 3 times per cylinder. You are not looking for any specific number just within 10-15% on each cylinder the tighter the group the better. I believe I was told a long time ago that it only takes like 130 psi to ignite gasoline.
