That is alot of weight, nowhere close to where I am, but the guy does not even do a full rep? Is that all that is required in comp. or something?
he's doin half reps, i would be impressed if he did 23 full length reps. none the less im big but i aint puttin no 585 up

That was pretty impressive...and his reps weren't all that bad. He was in the mid-range to target the best hit on his pecs. I think the rep range he used made it more impressive. He never took the stress off his pecs by touching his chest or locking out at the top.

I even find this hard to believe, that kid looks like he's 18 or 19 years old and he benches 585 6x's?? I've been around gym's and lifting my whole life and im yet to see anybody do anything even close to this. The best lift I seen in person and actually spotted was for an older guy, maybe around 42-45 and he did 495lbs. for 8 reps and that was damn impressive to me.
My personal best a few years back was 315lbs. for 7 reps.
I worked out with a dude that was able to bench press 315 for a max. of 8. His best was 385 for one rep.

Size and strength are not necessarily dependent on each other. I'm 6'2" and weigh a solid 240 and can't bench worth a crap. Granted I have bad shoulders, but I know guys that weigh like 185-200 and can bench 405 and even 495 for a couple. I do agree though that something looks really fishy with that video. I've never seen anyone do that much weight, that easy, except a powerlifter.
the bench press is not only a strength thing but a mental thing. theres days i go in the and and i can lay down and hit 315 for 6-8 reps then there are other days i go in there and i cant get it for 4 and i know physically there is nothing wrong. also form is another key to bench pressing heavy weight. there is a book i think it was called "cheating the bench" gain 40lbs in a day on your bench
