Bummer... So much for a new clutch and line-locks

Took the Cobra out for a spin today to run some errands and everything was fine until we were on our way home... I was pulling out onto a busy road when I noticed the car fell on its face and was popping and spuddering. When I got home I decided to check to see if I blew a plug and sure enough I did. When I pulled the plug I noticed the last 3 threads on the plug were stripped. Now I have to take it to get the head pulled to get the metal shavings out of the cylinder. Damn, so much for a new clutch and line-locks. I will have to spend probably a few hundred dollars to get that (the cylinder/head)fixed.

Sorry to hear about that. I did a P.I. swap on a 96 gt and that was a long process. I can't imagine how much fun it would be on a cobra.

Yes, the car was warmed up. I remember reading and Terry reminded me that some of the earlier Termys had that problem with the plugs only having 3 threads that went into the heads instead of 9 threads on the later 03 and 04 Termys

Kevin, sorry to hear this, but I don't think you got to pull the head. There is a company called Timesert (I think). The guy that bought the blue Cobra from the same place you did (I can't recall his name, but he is a member here) had a plug blow, and he used the Timesert or whatever it's called with good results. Look him up. Good Luck.

Helicoil FTW.....put a little grease on the drill bit if you even need to drill it out. (probably won't be needed) Run a helicoil down the hole and your're golden.

Thanks Adam for the link. His name is Ryan (Ruthless on here). Yea I almost bought that car instead of my white one.
I am flatbedding the car to Terry's next week so he can fix it and do some other work on it. I am still gonna have him put the new clutch in it and probably the linelocks too. I'll just have to get a loan to pay for it all.

Thanks everyone for the concern. Thats why I love this sight.
