are ebay 2.3 turbo headers any good?

I've seen a 2.3 turbo header being sold on ebay for around $200. They are made from stainless steel and look OK. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they junk? Sould I steer clear? Would I be better to port my E6 manifold? This will be for my daily driver 2.3 turbo '93 coupe. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

How did that header work out for you Ed? :p

EBay and other tubualar center mount headers.

The center pack tube headers on eBay are all the same. ALL OF THEM !!! They are manufactured by the Chinese vendor for SS Autochrome. No others, all the same, no exceptions. The header "marketed" as the stinger header is the same. He simply buys them at dealer cost from SS Auto, adds 250% markup, claims a warranty, then says its "his design". Its the same header, you are paying for a warranty, but when it cracks (and EVERY header will) he claims its because of vibration, installation, downpipe, etc. The ones on there a lot lately are from Jess Warren. He does add a spacer to the "kit" so a bigger turbo will fit, and I heard welds on a few extra braces. Its still a SS AutoChrome header.

As mentioed in the other thread, how far are you going with this car? I've taken the stock E6 a long way, and will take it even further, they just need a good port job, but wont crack. If you want / need a header, look into Bob Lee's log stuff. Pretty simple, and cheap in the long run because its durable.

    header

I might try to port my E6 exhaust manifold. Does the header gain a lot of power? I don't want something that is going to give me trouble like cracking, etc. Where could I find bob's log headers for sale? How much do they go for? Thanks for the input.

    Find Bob Lee here.........

    and his headers...........

No cracks, real durable, a little more money than the tube stuff. I have his intakes on my stuff. Just wasnt worth the time for me to port for what he charges and its a work of art inside. Really works well.

I would start your car with a ported E6 if you can do it yourself. bob has claimed up to 40 HP for one of his headers over a ported E6. I'm not sold on it, but might do some testing this summer. I think on mine the turbine housing is a bigger restriction than the manifold. At my boost level, the pressure ratio is huge on the turbine. A header isnt going to fix that.
