Does anybody have a Kenne Bell Supercharger on a 5.0 on here? I am new to using a supercharger. How much boost can you run without having to deal with blown headgaskets. They make a 6 PSI one and a 8 to 18 PSI one. I would like to get the one with more boost set at 8 psi so I can upgrade in the future as needed. Are Kenne Bell superchargers reliable ? Thanks.

the first question to ask is what are your intentions for the car? Street/strip etc..I currently see about 10# of boost at WOT. To the best of my knowledge, running around 8# is pretty safe. However nothing is guaranteed. The one thing I will say is that they do get HOT! And with no available intercooler, there is a noticeable difference in power, especially in the warm weather. The amount of "boost" is determined by how deep you put your foot in it. I give 1/4 throttle and it jumps right to about 4-5# . The tq does come on low, which I like for the fact that I can stay in 4th gear and roll into it and it pulls from way low.

It is a street/strip car. Right now it is a bone stock 92 LX hatchback. It only has 71,000 miles. I just bought it from the original owner. I have owned a few Mustangs in the past including 2 other 5.0 lx's. This will be the first one to get a power adder of any kind. I was thinking 8 psi. What injectors/ fuel pump are you running? If you upgrade the fuel system can you do away with the FMU? I have read elsewhere on line that you get 0 traction with a twin screw supercharger. Does your car hook up okay? Will the Kenne Bell fit under a stock hood? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to do it right the first time. If anyone has anything to contribute any suggestions are appreciated.
I have 42# injectors, with an 255lph in tank fuel pump. Stock fuel lines w/ a BBK fuel pressure regulator. Zero traction with a twin-screw...... Well there are WAY to many variables that would make that statement true or false.. The same can be said regarding an N/A motor, or a nitrous injected. It all depends on the set up. Lets not forget the suspension plays a big part in that as well. The KB website claims that it will fit under a stock hood, however mine did not.

I purchased a Holly System One lower intake to prepare for one years ago when these were only made for the stock intake base. Now they are setup for GT40 lower that is the way I would go.
How is the installation process on one of these?
thanks! i wish it looked as good in person as it does in the pic. Mine has the gt40 lower. Installation is pretty easy... Well,,, there are 2 allen heads that are the biggest pain to get to. Other than that, the whole assembly sits on the lower intake. There are a few brackets for the idler pulley etc.. The intake is in the exact spot as stock.

Curious about the day to day drivability. Also how is the torque with the blower. The anology of " the 302 feels like a 428" was used by some of the magazines.
I have a 1 1/2' Cervini Mach 1 Hood. I would guess the KB should clear the hood without an incident of clearance.
Drivability is just fine with it. 500+ would be a better comparison for the torque. It's an absolute blast for a street car.Originally Posted by Donstang86
I can tell you that hood will not work. When I 1st had this on my car with a 2-1/2" Stormin Normin hood, where the scoop is on the driver's side will hit the pulley and front snout of the Kenne Bell. I had to get a different hood for the car.
What hood would you recommend? Maybe a 2 1/2 Cervini cowl induction hood. The KB did not use a phenolic spacer or anything did it? The picture looks like it does not have a spacer but I thought I would ask.
Any Cowl Hood will work. I don't think Joe used a spacer on his setup. I had to in order to clear my Valve Covers.
Looks like a Strut Tower brace won't fit either
What was hitting under your stock hood? Are you running a spacer? I called Kenne Bell yesterday and they swear it fits. I don't want to be unprepared for that problem.
No spacer here. The pulley was hitting the hood, and thats with the smaller diameter one that I have on at the moment. I also have the stock motor mounts still in place.

I think KB sells k-member spacers to lower the engine in the bay for added hood clearence...

or you could just do it the bada$$ way and cut hole in your hood and have that kb monster stick out to let everyone know you mean business, like rodeheavers monster i dont think his car would be the same with nothing sticking out of the hood.
Kinda going for a sleeper. I really want to keep the stock hood. I am probably going to go with the new Vortech V3 that doesn't use oil lines. Anyone with anything good or bad about different superchargers please chime in.
