J - for classic plates ( as well as antique plates ) sometimes they get real picky and deny plates if a car doesn't have the factory rims on it. Any visible deviations from a stock car can be a problem. You might get lucky, or you might want to include a note with your application / photos that the rims are Ford rims. A lot of it depends on whose desk it crosses in Harrisburg and what mood they're in that day. Maybe you have photos ( from the correct angles ) of the car from before you started your subtle mods??

I had to try 3 times to get antique plates for my green '66 before they issued my plate. The first 2 times they didn't even tell me why they wouldn't issue the plate. What finally sealed the deal was my 3rd try when I included a detailed letter and an 8x11 photo of a '65 R-model with the "same" rims and nose as my car. Of course, I never disclosed the fact that my car had a 5-speed...or 4 wheel discs...or...

It can be a real PITA getting a classic/antique plate on a modified car - but it is worth it when you save the $$ each year on registration and emissions ( if you drive it over 5k miles... ).

Good luck. Can't wait to see your car sometime!!

Just search the net for the 4 required photos of a car similiar to yours and send them in. Worked on my 90. Just photoshoped my current plate onto the pictures I found on the net and doctored the date stamps on the photos a bit. :D Couldn't tell at all when you printed the pictures.

Thanks guys, my friend Mark sent me a link to the DOT paperwork for those excemptions.
Now, how does this apply to a car I'm bringing into PA for the first time? Car last had current registration in Ohio in 2006.
I think I'll have to give them a call and discuss.
The photo thing is a good idea. I have pics when the car looks stock except for tint, headlight covers, and chrome Cobra Rs. Otherwise it might be tough finding the required photos to photoshop, I think only 311 were made in this color in '91 and it was only offered in '92 w/o the black moldings.

The car will first have to have a PA title before you can get the classic plates. Once you get the car titled in PA and get the title back, you have to submit it to Harrisburg with your application.

BTW, don't forget you can change colors with photoshop if needed!

Track update after running it at NMRA Milan this weekend.
    Only made 3 passes.
    First pass Friday: 10.37 @ 140.5 on 7psi!
That was my first clean pass with the car and all I wanted to do was get it down the track. Drove through some tire shake with a 1.66 60' and shifted it easy just under 6000rpm. Felt good to finally get a clean pass and a 10 sec slip. I was surprised by the 140mph trap on 7psi. Decided to leave to watch Pens-Wings game 7, should have just stayed at the track.
Second pass Sat. morning: Kept the low boost, made some adjustments to tire pressure and tried a higher launch but it shook the tires harder and I got out of it and the clutch slipped when I hit second so I aborted.
Third pass: I knew I might have hurt the clutch and didn't want to hurt the clutch or any parts trying to launch it before I got a high boost pass. I plugged in the boost controller for 16psi and decided to leave like you would from a street light (2.29 60' :) ). I rolled into the throttle in 2nd and ran it out the back door to 11.37 @ 148.89! Man that top end charge was awesome! My brother said it layed a 100' patch in 2nd and made a small move left but it stayed straight and didn't get upset at all by my speed shifts (not power shifts).
Sorry no vids but I have a few pics I'll post later.
I have a good dyno vid but photobucket didn't want to load it again so I'll figure something out.
On a side note my brother averaged 10.66 in True Street. he drove it there and back, ran E85 on 18" DRs. He was hitting nitrous in 2nd gear but he didn't have a full bottle and it was done by the third run, mph went 132 to 131 to 129.

    Thanks Paul.

Not sure if its a ported housing, I don't think so but it was an NMRA DR class-spec GT47-88 when 88mm were legal. It has a smooth bell inlet that you don't always see.

Jive: You might need it haha , I need a boost controller and ramp it in from 7 to 16psi and a 2-step to leave on a little boost.

    I just want a 9 on a real 5-speed and DRs

Thanks, they've both been a long time in the making.

Paul, forgot to answer the trans is TKO600 modified by MMR and called the 900 because its supposedly will hold 900 ft lbs and is the only TKO to go 8s.
I bought it new in the box for the same price as a new 600. I had it fixed by Pro Motion and it has been great since fixing the shift lugs and shimming to their specs.
    Its still fully synchronized.

Thanks guys, should have it here next month.
Thinking of racing at the FFW-replacement event at Norwalk end of July then bringing it here.
Hopefully some of us here will go to that, I think its only like $45 or $65 for 3-days of racing (brackets).

Not sure how I missed your updates J. Simply amazing :D You get a set-up to ramp boost and it will be amazing. Get that big MPH with a solid 60'. Has t obe satisfying to get it on the track.

    You got it Bob.
The plan is to wire a 2-step to build maybe 3-4# on the line and then buy an AMS-500 to ramp the boost in from 7-16, hopefully all in for 3rd/4th gears. Baby steps :)
