Ford's inline 6 from trucks... interesting

I was surfing and found a few websites dedicted to Ford's inline 6 engines and apparently there is quite a bit out there for them all the way to when they were discontinued in 1996.

It makes me wonder about putting one in a fox, and how much of a PIA it would be. I think the most popular vehicle that has this engine was the early to mid 90's ford f150 trucks.

Would be kind of interesting to have a "domestic supra" in the garage if you could shoehorn the engine into a foxbody.

If you could fit it and thats a big if. I had a '94 F150 with an inline 6 and my friends and I had to do the motor in that. Even with all the accessories off, the motor still caught on the rad support and bent it alittle. It looong and was a tight fit in a full size truck.

It would be cool if you could some how do it. That motor was on of the best ford motors I have ever driven!

well someone fit the 240(?) cu in one in an 81 mustang, but i dont know about the bigger one.

I agree it would be cool as hell. Inline 6 engines have no first order or 2nd order vibrations; they're one of the best balanced engines.

Perhaps that will be the next project after this one ;)

    well......

The k-memeber to make it work is avaialble from the fairmonts with the in line 6.

The consensus is that the 300 six is just too big to fit. i'm sure it can go with enough creativity, but its big and tall.

Now, want to have some REAL fun...... do some searching on the aussie 240 / 260 cross flow engines :D Several guys have connections to get that stuff shipped up here. I know a guy putting one together for a 83 T-bird. It will be turbo and running on MS.

Some fox body Mustangs had straight-sixes...my friend had an 81 fox coupe with a 200 CID straight six and a SROD 4-speed.

As mentioned these were one of the most reliable ford engines ever produced. We had several company trucks with them at my family's business with hundreds of thousands of miles on them.

I had the 300-6 n my old 92 F150 and I loved it. In a truck application, I feel it was better than the 302. Supposedly Ford purposely detuned the motor with the fuel injected engines so it would be weaker then the truck 5.0 on purpose. The six was neutered with smaller injectors, and such.
