thanks and same to u. There was oil on my winshield so i dunno and i was 2 cars behind him. They looked under the car and there was alot of oil on the ground but i'm sure he will chime in and confirm what happenend. The car shut off in the middle of the tunnels and he coasted out to the shoulder. Wouldnt start after that.

Edit" Yea we going pretty good thru the tunnels

We were very much hammering it through the tunnel.

I got under the car and it was oil... alot of oil. Left a trail all the way to where he stopped. We waited around with him for about 45 mins and his dad was going to Washington to pick up a trailer and come get him.

Definitely bottom end, at the very least it was a piston/rod, but with the amount of oil, it may have poked a hole through the block, although I hope that isn't the case. We all felt really bad for him, I hope everything works out and he's able to get it back on the road soon.

Damn that sucks guys. I hope it is a cheap fix and not a engine rebuild. Post up some pics when you have a sec.

Oh and how dare you get oil on Rob's car.

I had something strange happen too. I was driving up 79 and this f'n UFO went flying past me at about light speed. Hell he might have hit ludicrous speed! After seeing this I might go back to being a GM guy. j/k

I made it home. My dad instead used tow straps and pulled me home.

My sister's Thunderbird was totaled a little over a year ago, and she bought it back for parts. The motor in that car is a 4.6 OHC V-8 so maybe I can use the bottom end/block out of that.

I'm just trying not to think about it. But hopefully I can come up with a plan, sell some stuff, start living frugal. It was gonna happen sooner or later. I'm sorry again for the oil/antifreeze guys. I really am. I can tell you one thing; this is the last car I ever buy again thats already had performance shit done to it.

    ASAP kills another Mustang.

Sorry to hear that Mitternacht. Was that the stock bottom end? Glad to see you got home and you're already 'thinking' about a plan.

That's one of the wonders of buying this car; I guess so since it sounds like I shredded it apart.

I don't think theres a rod through the block. I cranked the engine over once on the side of 376 and it spun, just wouldn't start. Sounds like I destroyed a piston or the crankshaft, and I still had methanol so I don't think it was detonation.

well hey i think of it this way, god had a reason for your motor to blow, so you have the chance to build it up i mean its apart, you might as well save up and get it built the way you want when it could happen again down the road. just my 2 cents

im glad your alright, and sorry for your loss(stangs heart and soul)

it's good to hear that you at least have a spare engine if you need it. Don't worry about the fluids on the other cars, no big deal, it washes off. Glad to hear you made it home with no problems. Whenever you figure out what parts you need, I'll be glad to keep an eye out on classifieds for you (I'm pretty much addicted to corral classifieds )
