No savings for large parts order?

I thought this was funny. I called a store today to order some parts for the Cobra and I had a thought while I was on the phone. Shouldnt these shops help people out if they have a order that contains more than a few parts? I had a list of things ready to go but when I was talking to the girl I ask "Ahh I have more than a few things that I was wanting to order. Are your prices the same over the phone as what they would be on-line." All I got was a "yes they are." I didnt get a "Well lets see what you need." or anything. Needless to say I hung up the phone. I guess if they cant help me at all I will just pick each part from the cheepest places on line.

    Ok rant off! lol

So whats everyone thoughts on this?

BTW...I know how it works because my buddy had a car audio shop a few years back and if a person was purchasing a few things he hooked them up.

I agree they should be, but they have you by the short hairs 'cause unless you get free shipping from the other places, it will cost you more in the long run.

Summit Racing and Jegs are free ground shipping no matter what you order. Although they do charge a small handling fee of like $10 for the entire order, thus you're best to gather everything you need for one order.

Try emailing them to see if they'll help you out on a large order. Sometimes it works better than the people that answer the calls. Are you dealing with a large company or a smaller company?

No but it was damn near everything to support it. Plus some 10.5 03 wheels for the back. Until I went all mental and hung up on the girl.

BTW I found a localish hook up on tires!!

i totally agree, you would think that if the company wants your business enough they could give you a deal, i mean if your spending ALOT of money which i would assume you are or were, then they should say ok lets knock off 100 bux and the tax or something like that.

i kinda understand the business though. what is the cut off? how much would you have to spend for them to make enough profit to cut you a break? if your buying from a place like MMR MPH or kenne bell they get orders that get into the tens of thousands of dollars.

why would those guys give us a break on a grand worth of parts. its a lot to us but nothing to them

well i would figure if i was kenne bell, is that they make millions of dollars anyways so why not start cutting people breaks for spending alot of money and hopefully encourage those customers back again and spread a marketing tool with the word of mouth.

    Demand > Supply

If you have a 30,000 item widget pile and you have orders for 35,000 widgets, why would you discount them?

If you saw the prices online and then called to order and then asked for a discount and was told "No" why did you hang up?

lol troll is right, so if everyone in the world would not buy kenne bells that means that therefore demand for the product would go down and supply would go up, meaning kenne bell would not be making anymoney and have to lower prices to raise demand and decrease supply, which means if we all would hold out long enough who knows how much they would lower it to 1k maybe lol

I never said anything about a KB. I just had a few parts I wanted and I saw that this place had a wheel discount also so I called to see if it was over or not. So when I had the girl on the phone I asked if I had a large order if I would be able to save on shipping or anything. Thats all. Besides she had no idea how much I was going to spend.

I take it you don't run a company. Most places will help you out because they want you to keep going back to them because these widgets can be purchased at other places.

just so you guys know summit price matches.. as long as you can show them the link to the item, they should match it unless it's an ebay auction.. i'm not sure if they match them or not... possbily if they're ebay stores.

I always give discounts to customers with larger orders. I do it all the time and customers return again to buy more and ask for me. It's easy, bend a little, make a little less and keep the customer returning back. Works for me and my department. Has been for 24+ years that I have been in parts.

Its like most of the Ford dealers around. Walk in to buy parts, and its straight LIST price. In todays world, I have 3 or 4 sources to get OEM Ford parts on-line, still have them shipped, and be way ahead of the game. Add t othat I use a TON of the Motorcraft stuff that I would buy local, same deal, I can get it to my door from RockAuto in a few days, the shipping is nothing compared to the savings, and no tax on out of state stuff.

Treat me like you want my Bussiness, and I will be back. Treat me like i'm an inconvienence, and I will only be back when I have to. Actually Summit is getting a lot like that lately too, I usually order from Jegs lately.
