Four Lug Turbocoupe rear disc rear to five lug rear disc rear conversion

I have a 88 Turboucoupe 4 lug disc brake rear end I want to convert to a five lug rear end. I picked up a set of 97 Cobra 5 lug axles. I was hoping I would be lucky enough to change the disc to the 5 lug disc and that would be it. I was told that was not the case. Anyone know if the Turbocoupe rear caliper brackets are different then the SN95 caliper brackets. I was going to see if I could pick up a Crown Vic Rear and hope the caliper brackets would work but I wanted to get some feedback from the group first.

Also anyone know where I can get some front SN95 dust shields?

The caliper brackets are different from what I read. You're probably better off just keeping all the TC rear brake stuff and having the rotors drilled for a 5x4.5 BS. one of the new holes will intersect one of existing, but i'm not worried about it since it's in the back.

Atleast that's what i'm going to do.

A turbocoupe was at PRP last year with 5lug rear disc and bullitt wheels. I thought he used Mark axles and modified the calipers or backing plate somehow.

I'm not 100% on this stuff, but I'm fairly sure the TC brackets are differnet than the SN95 stuff. The calipers are similar, but I think the base bracket is different.

The SN95 stuff will bolt to the TC 8.8 housing, same for both V6 and V8 cars IIRC

If you read item #5 here, it seems the difference in SN95 stuff is the hat height. They state here that there are no 5 lug rotors with the TC set-up short of redrilling.

Shaun - I'm not sure how he would have done that. The Mark axles should be the same as the SVO, meaning 1/2" longer than the TC, and 1 1/4" longer than a fox. The brackets all bolt to the housing, so i'm not sure how he made up that difference. I bet it was a SN95 swap to get there. The other option for mark brakes is what I did to mine this winter going from the SVO axle to fox axles with a flip (1 1/4" change)

I had my head around all of these brake swaps at one time, but it seems I killed off those brain cells or something.

I can't remember what all he said he did, but it was a primer TC with a volvo front mount. Maybe you know him?

Yeah, guy is from up in the middle of the state, running on megasquirt. (Artie?) His dad has a pretty fast older mustang. I think that was a SN95 swap, but am not sure. Car now has a holset on it, and its slower ;)
