The event at Maple Grove was actually a Maple Grove event that the NMRA paid for the rights to call it as their own. Maybe it will go back to being a Maple Grove owned and operated race. Its been around too long IMO for them to let it go by the way side.

I personally enjoy the FFW events more anyway from a spectators standpoint than the NMRA ones. They just seem more professional and organized. I don't know if the racers feel the same way or not though.

I plan to attend the FFW events in Norwalk and Epping next year.

Atco is still in. I think Storman Norman is taking over Maple Grove for the Motorsport Nationals, I will not miss that stop for NMRA.

    Here is more info.

    Paul,

I'm with you on FFW being more professional & better organized.

I'd like to go Norwalk, Richmond & Bristol.

MG isn't the best facility but, it's close & I'd go to a Stormin Norman event there.

Fun Ford Norwalk and the Virginia race were a flop this year, only one drag radial car at Norwalk. They are in bad shape and treat the racers like shite for the most part. Do some digging on the NMRA site and you could find some specifics.

    Lou,

I've wondered for a couple of years how long two Mustang/Ford racing series can exist. Can of like IRL & Indycars. I did notice there was only one DR car at Norwalk & wondered why. Sooner or later one or both is going to fold.

Its threads like this that put Fun Ford closer and closer to extinct. George Class pisses alot of people off and doesn't care.

    Lou,

George is certainly out of line in that thread. NMRA has done it's share of misdeeds from what I've heard. In the beginning it seemed like there was more series cross-overs drivers. Now it seems drivers run one or the other. Doesn't FFW have larger purses?

Ive run both and yes you are correct, they do pay out more. On that note, how else could anyone explain why the NMRA race at Martin Mi was packed with cars the same weekend of Norwalk fun ford. I drove another 1 1/2 -2 hours more to race Michigan. I ran the previous year at norwalk fun ford but said that would be the last. They have goten so strict it is no longer fun to be there. Norwalk is my favorite track by the way.

Maple Grove Raceway is already busy making plans for next season. Several facility upgrades are set for 2007. Each year, the Stauffer family has reinvested in the property, making it one of the largest-drawing tracks on the East Coast.
The first project is additional pit paving required due to the ever-increasing size of race rigs and hospitality that are now part of the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals. In 2006, several areas were paved, increasing pit parking for the race teams, and a terrace was built below the staging lanes for manufacturers and race car parking. A new credential building was also completed just prior to the 2006 Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals.
The track surface will be milled in late spring. The management also has planned for new LED scoreboards to be installed. In 1995, Maple Grove Raceway was one of the first tracks in the country to install CompuLink scoreboards that read to thousandths of a second.
As a reminder, the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals has moved from its traditional September date to Aug. 16-19 and will be the last event on the NHRA POWERade tour for the Countdown to 8."

    ffw

From our exp. the cost of travel and the time to travel to the FFW events is far more greater than the NMRA. Look at where we are, and where most of the events are at. Looks like mostly southern areas as NMRA is mostly north east and central states. Racing ain't cheap, but feels sooo good!!!!
