    how fast without a cage?

I did a search on here and on PRP's site and couldn't come up with anything.

Whats the fastest you can run without a cage at PRP?

I've never taken any of my cars to the track before, so this is all new to me :o

Also, how much better is the car going to hook at PRP than on a street? I assume much better? my car is making 520rwhp on a slightly optimistic dyno (amazon racing's dyno) and I'm running 305/35/18 nitto 555RII tires (just like the drag radial, but with stiffer side walls - I know that will hurt how the car hooks up). The car has supposedly gone 11.50 @ 127, but I think the previous owner might be embellishing the numbers a bit.

    Thanks in advance!

at a prp test n tune, you wont hook worth a s**t unless youve got some good drag radials/slicks. My car makes like 240 rwhp(being optimistic) and i spun like a mofo all the time there....not bashing PRP at all so spare me the drama....(you know who you are). Good luck man.

dont hold me to it but i thought i remembered hearing that if you are under 12's then you gotta have a cage....or maybe its just a helmet...I know its one or the other....obviously my super monster car doesnt go under 12's.....or 13's.....or 14's....lol.

That's the one good thing about PRP, they don't really care about that stuff too much. I've run 11's without even a helmet. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

I don't like the sound of that. There are so many factory cars that are verts that run under 14 seconds though, there is no way they can enforce that. There are a handful of stock cars that can run faster than 11.49 too. That sucks.

I do like the sound of this however. How much trouble do you have putting the power down? Are you on DRs?

Only time I've ever been to the track with drag radials my stock clutch was shot. I've gone a best of 11.84 at 121 on my street tires. They're the crappy sumitomo's, but the IRS does pretty good at planting the power so I was still able to get a 1.94 60' I believe. I've done a little better on the 60' time with a different set of street tires. They were Avon M500's which I think are discontinued now, but I was able to get a 1.85 60' time with those. I would imagine with the Nittos you have you should expect 1.7's or 1.8's. I'm not sure how bad the stiffer side walls will hurt you. I'd say take them down to about 15 psi then come of the line fairly easy and you should be able to floor it about half way through 1st as long as the tires are still fairly warm and the track prep isn't too bad.

    NHRA Requirements are here..........

    http://www.nhra.com/contacts/tech_faq.html

The IHRA (PRP) is the same. As has been said, you are generaly okay until you put a dial in on the car.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate that NHRA link! So I should be safe for the T-n-T nights with no cage?

I ran 11s in my vert and I never even use a helmet. I have friends that run low 11s without a roll bar/cage and they don't say anything. They don't care.

lol awesome. You get that thing dynotuned yet? your car pulls awfully hard in those videos!

Thats a big relief with PRP though, I was going to axe any further power upgrades down the road if I couldn't even take the car to a track. I was wondering how so many people are able to get such good times and have no cage, I just figured that they ran the time and got the boot. Shows what I know!
