Just looking for different opinions and ideas... Let me start off by saying that I have been in the market for an old school hot rod for a while now and haven't found what I wanted or fitted within my budget.
Well I recently came across a 1965 MG for a good price that is in pretty good condition (redone in the early 80's and has sat in a garage for 20+ years). By no means is this a body style that I have been looking for, but I don't know if I can pass up the deal.
Anyways... I'm thinking this could be a badass ride for little money. I would have two engine options to chose from- 1. 383 small block chevy (about 400 hp) 2. 194 c.i. injected 4 cylinder that was built for the strip (don't know the hp but it was an S-10 truck and ran mid 11's) Even though the small block would probably be my best bet, I'm kind of leaning towards the 4 because of the "fit", plus I think it would be cool/different to have the stacks poking through the hood like an old style gasser. I would also plan on finding a junk yard 8.8 or 9 inch to help support the power, plus obviously a tranny swap would be needed.
Let me know what you guys think... I know it's not a Ford or Mustang or maybe someone's cup of tea, but I'm just sitting here thinking of the possibilites... 11's with minimal money and a 4 banger =sleeper
