make sure you are checking the plugs correctly... most cars run a little rich at idle, so it is not a good tuning aid to check the plugs after the car has idled for a while, if you ar going to use the plugs as a tuning aid you will need to run it through the gears hard and shut it off quickly and pull over or drift into a garage and then pull a plug. thats about the best way to tell without a wide band, hope that helps

I pulled the plug after a hard run. I notice when the car warms up it really softens up on me, I can feel the horsepower falling out of it.

If the car is running rich, that's not a sign to use a hotter plug.... all you're going to do is possibly cause detonation.... For all the more you have done, just use the factory plug...
Do some mods, and have it tuned.... you can't fix rich/lean issues by changing plugs

with those mods all on the "intake" side, I would think you'd be lean instead of rich. But, like stated already the factory tune will make up for an intake and bigger throttle body.

Honestly, I wouldn't get another N/A 4.6 tuned until I had some crazy mods. You might get some better drivability and maybe 5-8 hp. Other than that, you're just paying $400 for a speedo change (if you got gears) and your rear O2 sensors turned off (so your cel doesn't come on with an off-road mid-pipe).

As has been said, tough to get a good read on EFI plugs. Best bet is to click it off after a full throttle pass, literally shut it off before lifting. I usually do it at the track and pull a plug on the return road (and I have a wideband). My plugs are even harder to read because I run Torco, and they get colored orange anyway.

You say CAI, is it really cold air??

When you say it falls off when warm, what do you expect? The Ford strategies are pretty simple using IAT, ECT to adjust how much timing is allowed (to protect warranty). Its going to try to run lean for emmisssions, but pull timing for anti-detontion based on engine and air temp. I was ratyher suprised to see some info from a Diablo hand held on IAT effects. I also know that several of the 4.6 cars run quicker / faster when warm, regardless what they feel like.

I had my 04 with those mod's plus gears and a prochamber (mac exhaust). Predator tuner. I never seemed to feel it fall off. Course, if your running stock gears and opened up the intake you will prolly lose a lil bottom end. I ran 3.73's and never had any issue's.
