I put another wheel stud in my front hub tonight to replace the stripped one from my tire shop endeavor. Anyhow, this was the replacement stud that was stripped before. The hole in the hub looked stripped to hell and upon pulling the new one through, it went in very easy. I got the wheel on and torqued the lug down to 100 ft lbs without it spinning or stripping, but now I just don't trust it.
So, I know nothing about hubs and/or wheel bearings. If I buy a brand new hub assembly like the one below, is the bearing already pressed into it or what? Is it just matter of unbolting the old one and replacing it with this? I didn't pull the rubber dust cover off to inspect it. What is behind there? just a nut? and how do you turn it without the whole deal spinning? I guess it shouldn't spin because that's why the bearing is there, right?
Thanks for any help.
