    Project Fox232 making progress.

Very productive weekend on the stang. Got the new clutch, pressure plate, throwout and pilot bearings in, bolted up. Mated the transmission to the engine, and dropped it in the bay.

Absolutely amazing fit. It was as if the engine originally came in the car. Even the curvature of the hoses was a perfect fit!

Next steps seem to be the following (in no particular order):
    -get the manual pedals installed
-acquire and install transmission crossmember and mount for a T5
    -install driveshaft
    -acquire parts for fuel system
    -acquire and install megasquirt
-clean up wiring and create wiring harness
-sort out some sort of exhaust system

After these steps I think it will be ready to be started and tuned. Then phase 2 (split port head install) and step 3 (turbo setup) can proceed.

[QUOTE=phillysrt4;105249-clean up wiring and create wiring harness.[/QUOTE]

Are you going to scratch build a new harness for that thing or build off the Ford harness? What are you going to do for ignition? TFI? EDIS (even possible?) COP? ??

I'm going to go from scratch. B&G offer a nice relay board that accomodates all the sensors that megasquirt uses. And its not that expensive.

The car in its previous state was a carb'd motor so there isn't much of a harness left per se. Its probably going to be best to start from scratch so that I know the wiring and wont have to chase down potentially nonexistent problems.

As for ignition, it was really cool of Ford to use EDIS in the 1994 mustangs so all the EDIS equipment is already there (rather, I acquired it when i got the motor).

Its really coming together! I cant wait to drive it this summer after its tuned for the various fuels I want to run (E85 anyone? :) )

as an aside, after working on this car and seeing how easy it is to mod 79-04's, I wish I had done more research before buying my car. A 2004 mustang v6 would have been cheaper for me in the long run both in parts and aftermarket.

Of course not having the neon would have probably meant not meeting some of the people I have.

Just glad I've seen the light. They're stupid easy to work on and you dont have to kill yourself trying to work in the enigne bay like on a sport compact (well, except for when you're trying to install the starter motor AFTER you already install the engine/tranny LOL).

    one final thing.

none of this would have been possible at all without cam99's help.

his support in the project has what made it possible in the first place.

Cool, EDIS is sweet especially if you have the parts. I ddint know the V6 cars got it then. The TF crowd is gravitating that way with MS as well.

You going to put enough injector in to start with E85? I've been considering it, but would need to go up again with injector. Not on the agenda this year. I dont want to mess with 85's on gas.

Over the summer i was big into the TF community, and it really seems a lot of people are going that way (EDIS). Its a relatively simple way to get ignition timing.

as for E85, it would be nice, yes. On the practical side, I'll probably have to wait until Im in full turbo setup. That way i can turn the boost down when Im running E85 so that the maximum duty cycle of my injectors remains unchanged across fuel types.

E85 is more for emissions than anything else... well that and to say I can run E85 :)

Got an engine bay pic, but thats about it.

ran into a small setback with the trans mount. thinking about selling the roller, engine, and both transmissions cheap. Possible job change may preclude me from taking the car wtih me even if i get it finished. If I do i'll formally post a for sale thread.
