    Car Insurance Prices?

Hey guys. I'm looking at getting a stang within the next year or so here. One of the primary reasons I haven't bought one yet is the fact that my insurance would be as much as, if not more than, my car payment. I'm 24, have good credit, one ticket (for red light) in past 3 years, and I'm getting quoted around $200-250/mo. for an 03 Cobra.

Now I know a GT would be less, but I still think that is high for me. I wanna know what you guys are paying for insurance on your rides.

If you don't mind giving info, just like your age, if you have any accidents/tickets, and how much you're paying. I'd really appreciate it, so then maybe I can get a better understand on why insurance is so high.

I think I should be dropping next year when I'll be 25 and my ticket will drop off (got it April 2006).

    Thanks in advance

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

When I was 24 my insurance was around $140/mo. through progressive. Now I'm 26 and own a house(went down for both those reasons) and it's just over $100/mo.

Last year I was quoted around $110/month for an 03 cobra. I was 24 at the time and have a good credit standing and a fairly clean record. I pay around $60/month for my 01 gt

25 with a 2004 GT convertable- full coverage is right around 650 a year/55 a month with a 3 month layover through Erie Insurance. I also have my house and Ranger insured through them which gives a little better discount

Food for thought... Most insurance companies don't give you a break until you are 25 or married, Erie gives you the discounted rate at 24.

Something else...When I bought my car a year ago, I was looking at a supercgarged 01 Saleen. The price difference in insurance between Saleens and Cobras was pretty drastic. If the Cobra insurance is too much, you might want to look for something like this....IF it would fit your needs/wants

Wow, then I don't feel quite as bad. I'm thinking next year it should drop by 1/2.

Trav, was the Saleen cheaper than the Cobra in insurance or more?

Sorry I'm just not getting back to you, I was out of town for the weekend... The Saleen was a good bit cheaper, for whatever reason the HP #'s weren't registering with my insurance company.

My mustang is under my dad's name, so the insurance is like $40 a month, and I make the payments on it.

My Z-34 Lumina is in my name, and it costs me $138 a month, also I'm 19.

I'm 29, married and own my house. I have 3 cars on my policy:

    2006 Mazdaspeed6 $715/year
    2006 Subaru Legacy $520/year
    1995 Mustang GT $215/year

Both 06s have full, very high/good coverage and the mustang is liability only. I have all of my insurance through Erie.
