Ok, well when i put my gauge in (mech water temp gauge) somebody on this site told me to put it where my coolant temp sensor was, to just unplug that and put the fittings for the gauge in there... well is this ok? or will this cause my car to run like shit???

It will be okay as long as you are removing the sensor with only one wire that runs the gauge on the dash. If that one is 2 wires then you will need to find another location as it's the one for the computers' coolant temp signal.

and yes it was a red SINGLE wire with a plug on the end, not 2 wires..
